Fire Alarm Technician Position Overview

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Fire Alarm Technician with Prime Partners, your day will begin with a comprehensive briefing on project goals and safety standards. You’ll spend your days installing and programming fire alarm systems, conducting routine checks, and performing maintenance to ensure optimum functionality. Core Fire Alarm Technician Responsibilities

Installation and Programming

You’ll be responsible for installing and programming fire alarm control panels, smoke detectors, strobes, and other system components. Your work will be critical in ensuring these systems meet the stringent fire safety standards of Maricopa County and beyond.

System Testing and Troubleshooting

Perform rigorous testing and verification of systems to ensure compliance with fire safety codes. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues promptly to maintain the highest standards of safety and functionality.

Collaboration and Coordination

Work closely with general contractors and other trades to coordinate system installations efficiently. Your ability to communicate effectively and collaborate will be essential in meeting project timelines.

Record Maintenance and Safety Protocols

Maintain accurate records of all installations, inspections, and repairs. Adhere strictly to safety protocols, recognizing the importance of working with sensitive and life-critical systems.

Advanced Technical Duties

  • Conduct advanced programming of networked fire alarm systems.
  • Perform fiber optic and network cable installations.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools for complex troubleshooting.

Qualifications

Experience and Knowledge

Candidates must possess at least 3+ years of experience as a Fire Alarm Technician, with a strong background in installing and maintaining fire alarm systems. Familiarity with NFPA codes and local regulatory standards is essential.

Certifications

  • NICET Fire Alarm Systems Certification (Level II or higher preferred)
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Technical Proficiency

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in high-pressure situations. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical diagrams.
