The Journeyman Electrician Position

Core Journeyman Electrician Responsibilities

As a Journeyman Electrician, your core responsibilities will include:

• Installation and Maintenance: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot renewable energy systems for commercial properties, focusing on solar panels, energy storage systems, and inverters.
• Conduit and Wiring: Route and install conduit (EMT, rigid) and wiring for high-voltage DC and AC systems, ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
• System Testing and Commissioning: Conduct thorough system testing and commissioning for solar arrays to ensure optimal energy output, collaborating with engineers and project managers to design energy-efficient solutions.
• Advanced Technical Duties: Execute advanced diagnostics and repairs of complex electrical systems, configure and program smart energy management devices, and optimize system performance through software and hardware adjustments.
• Regional Project Specifics: Engage in projects tailored to the unique geographical and climatic conditions of the San Jose area, adapting installation techniques to maximize efficiency and longevity.
• Safety Protocols: Adhere to stringent safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment, lockout/tagout procedures, and regular safety audits to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for all team members.

Required Experience & Skills

To thrive in this role, you must possess:

• A valid California Journeyman Certification from the Department of Industrial Relations.
• Extensive knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and renewable energy codes, specifically pertaining to solar and battery storage systems.
• Proven experience with solar panel installations, inverters, and high-voltage DC systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools such as multimeters and megohmmeters, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and energy system diagrams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, crucial for troubleshooting and optimizing systems.

Candidates should have a minimum of four years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician, with certifications in solar energy installation and advanced electrical diagnostics.
