Fiber Optic Splicing Technician at Staley Technologies
Position Overview
Staley Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Fiber Optic Splicing Technician to join our dynamic team in San Jose, CA. This role involves working in edge data centers, serving telecom providers, content delivery networks, and IoT services within a 50-mile radius. As an integral part of our 10+ person regional team, this position demands a professional who is experienced, reliable, and committed to delivering exceptional service during standard business hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fiber optic splicing and testing using advanced tools and technology such as Visual Fault Locators, Power Meters, Fusion Splicers, and OTDR.
- Collaborate with team members to design and implement high-quality fiber optic solutions.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting to optimize network performance.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations while servicing edge data centers.
- Document and report on project specifications, technical details, and timelines.
Required Qualifications
- 4-7 years of experience in fiber optic splicing within edge data centers.
- Certifications: OFC Specialist and ETA Fiber Optics.
- Proven ability to manage tasks efficiently and meet stringent deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced understanding of San Jose’s telecom market dynamics.
- Preferred experience with local telecom and IoT service clients.
- Additional certifications in fiber optic technologies are advantageous.
