What You’ll Do as a Fire Alarm Technician

As a Fire Alarm Technician at Prime Partners, you’ll be an essential part of our construction team, ensuring the safety and functionality of fire alarm systems across various commercial projects in the Phoenix area. We are currently working on multi-year projects in Phoenix and nearby cities like Scottsdale, Tempe, and Mesa. Your role is crucial in safeguarding lives and properties by installing and maintaining advanced fire alarm systems in new construction projects.

Your Daily Tasks as a Fire Alarm Technician

Install and Program Systems

You’ll be responsible for installing and programming fire alarm control panels, smoke detectors, strobes, and other essential components. These installations will primarily be in commercial buildings under construction, requiring precise attention to detail and adherence to design specifications.

System Testing and Troubleshooting

Conduct thorough testing and verification of installed systems to ensure they comply with local and national fire safety standards. This involves troubleshooting any issues and making necessary adjustments to ensure reliability and compliance.

Collaboration and Coordination

Work alongside general contractors, electricians, and other trades to coordinate installation schedules and ensure timely completion of system setups. Your ability to communicate effectively is key to maintaining workflow and project timelines.

Record Keeping and Compliance

Maintain accurate and detailed records of all installations, inspections, and repairs. This documentation is essential for compliance with regulatory standards and for future maintenance and troubleshooting.

Additional Common Tasks

  • Conduct routine maintenance checks and upgrades on existing fire alarm systems to ensure ongoing functionality.
  • Provide on-site training for building staff on the operation and maintenance of fire alarm systems.
  • Respond swiftly to emergency situations, troubleshooting and resolving issues to restore system functionality promptly.

What You Need to Be a Fire Alarm Technician

Experience and Knowledge

To excel in this role, you should have at least 3+ years of experience in installing and maintaining fire alarm systems. Your hands-on skills in programming and testing these systems are essential, as is your familiarity with fire codes and regulatory standards.

Must-Have Skills

  • Strong technical aptitude in electronics and system programming.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
