Data Center Technician Position Overview

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Data Center Technician with Prime Partners, your daily responsibilities will include installing and configuring servers, cabling, and power distribution units. You will conduct routine maintenance and testing to ensure the reliability of critical systems and manage cable management systems to optimize airflow for efficient cooling. Documentation of configurations, system changes, and performance metrics is crucial for maintaining project records.

Our projects range from new data center builds to retrofitting existing facilities with state-of-the-art technologies. You will work in various environments, including commercial buildings and dedicated data center spaces, requiring adaptability and expertise in diverse settings.

Core Data Center Technician Responsibilities

  • Advanced Technical Duties: In addition to standard responsibilities, you will be tasked with advanced troubleshooting of network connectivity issues, implementing advanced security protocols, and conducting performance optimization for critical systems.

Qualifications

  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years as a Data Center Technician is required.
  • Certifications: Essential certifications include CompTIA A+, Network+, and a preference for Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
  • Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in data center hardware, cabling, and power systems, with a strong understanding of best practices for ensuring system reliability and efficiency.

Tools & Equipment

  • Daily Tools: Our technicians frequently use tools such as cable testers, network analyzers, and power meters.
  • Personal Tools: You are expected to provide basic hand tools, including screwdrivers, pliers, and socket sets.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting Requirements: Technicians must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally lift heavier equipment with assistance.
  • Working Conditions: Expect to work in both indoor environments with controlled temperatures and areas under construction, requiring adaptability to varying conditions.
