About the Role: We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, programming, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems across various sites in Glendale, CA. The Fire Alarm Technician will have in-depth knowledge of fire alarm systems and apply this knowledge to ensure all systems are compliant with national and state fire safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Install, program, test, maintain, and repair fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards and local building codes.
  2. Conduct regular inspections and system tests to ensure optimal operation and readiness for emergency situations.
  3. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material to accurately detect and diagnose malfunctions.
  4. Provide technical advice to clients about fire alarm systems, including how to operate them and the importance of regular maintenance.
  5. Prepare service reports, noting any test or inspection performed.
  6. Conduct system programming and prepare for system commissioning.
  7. Coordinate with the Electrical Engineer to troubleshoot system-related issues.
  8. Respond to emergency service calls and troubleshoot issues on-site.
  9. Maintain an adequate supply of parts and tools necessary for repair work.
  10. Attend training and educational sessions to stay updated with industry advancements.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  2. A minimum of 3 years of experience in fire alarm system installation, maintenance, and repair.
  3. Current State of California Fire/Life Safety Technician Certification or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.
  4. Thorough knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.
  5. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
  6. Strong knowledge of electrical systems and fire alarm technology.
  7. Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
  8. Ability to work independently and in a team.
  9. Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  10. Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  11. Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in high places.

Physical Requirements:

The Fire Alarm Technician must be physically able to crawl, climb ladders, and lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs). The job often involves working in confined spaces, on ladders, and in noisy environments.

Working Conditions:

The Fire Alarm Technician typically works a standard work week, but may be called in for emergencies or issues that arise outside of normal working hours. This position requires traveling to various job sites within the Glendale, CA region.
