Voice & Data Installer at McEnroe Voice & Data

Job Description:

McEnroe Voice & Data is seeking a skilled and experienced Voice & Data Installer for new construction office buildings and hospitals in Boston, MA, and the surrounding cities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, termination, and testing of voice and data cables within a commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Install, terminate, and test low voltage cabling in new construction office buildings and hospitals.
2. Install voice and data systems such as phone systems, data networks, and security systems.
3. Read and understand blueprints and schematic diagrams.
4. Determine the layout and installation processes for voice and data systems.
5. Perform troubleshooting and maintenance on voice and data systems.
6. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines.
7. Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with clients, team members, and management.

Required Qualifications and Certifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial voice and data installation.
3. Certification in network cabling, such as BICSI certification, is highly desirable.
4. Knowledge of local and national electrical codes.
5. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Specific Tools and Equipment Knowledge:

1. Familiarity with tools and equipment used for the installation of voice and data systems, including punch down tools, cable testers, and fiber optic splicing tools.
2. Knowledge of various types of cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cables.

Safety Requirements and Protocols:

1. Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols related to voice and data installation.
2. Ability to safely use ladders, lifts, and hand tools.
3. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times during work.
