Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Cable Technician specializing in low voltage voice and data installations for commercial environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structured cabling systems and be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair low voltage cabling systems for voice and data in commercial settings
• Perform cable runs and terminations for Cat5/6, fiber optic, and analog/digital voice systems
• Install and configure network equipment such as routers, switches, and access points
• Conduct testing and troubleshooting of installed systems using appropriate tools and equipment
• Interpret and follow blueprints, schematics, and building plans
• Ensure all installations meet industry standards (BICSI, EIA, TIA, NEC) and local building codes
• Install cable support structures such as j-hooks, cable racks, and innerduct
• Perform preventive maintenance on existing cabling infrastructure
• Complete accurate documentation of installations, including cable labeling and as-built drawings
• Interact professionally with clients and address any concerns or questions
• Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in commercial low voltage voice and data installations
• Thorough knowledge of structured cabling systems and network technologies
• Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA, and NEC standards
• Proficiency in using cable testing equipment and hand tools
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various positions (standing, kneeling, climbing ladders)
• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications are a plus

Compensation

• Competitive hourly rate: $34 - $40 per hour, based on experience
