Technical Skills & Certifications

You should have the ability to effectively use hand tools and power tools, such as pliers, screwdrivers, wire strippers, drills, and multimeters. A strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and good communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Knowledge of electrical codes and standards, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC), is advantageous. Familiarity with basic electrical concepts, including voltage, current, and resistance, will enhance your ability to assist in various tasks. Reliable transportation and punctuality are critical to ensure timely arrival at job sites.

While specific certifications may not be required initially, pursuing certifications such as OSHA 10 for construction safety and basic first aid/CPR certification is encouraged. These certifications not only enhance your credibility but also reinforce the safety culture at Helix Electric.

Project Responsibilities

In your capacity as an Electrician Helper, you will assist electricians with a variety of tasks, including installations and repairs. Your responsibilities will involve handling tools and materials, following instructions to complete basic electrical tasks, and preparing and cleaning work areas to ensure a safe and organized environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting cable pulling and conduit installation, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and project specifications.
• Learning to read and interpret blueprints under the guidance of experienced electricians, enhancing your ability to understand project requirements.
• Assisting in troubleshooting and resolving minor electrical issues, developing your problem-solving skills.
• Ensuring adherence to safety standards and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of electrical components.
• Participating in team meetings and safety briefings to stay informed about project updates and safety practices.
• Providing support for testing and system commissioning, ensuring that electrical systems operate efficiently and safely.

Safety is paramount in this role. You will be expected to follow strict safety protocols and compliance requirements to protect yourself and your colleagues. This includes understanding lockout/tagout procedures, maintaining a clean work area, and reporting any safety concerns to supervisors immediately.
