What You’ll Do as an Electrician

Your Daily Tasks as an Electrician

In your daily routine, you’ll tackle a range of tasks that are critical to the success of our projects:

• Install and Maintain Electrical Systems: You’ll be responsible for the installation and maintenance of commercial electrical systems. This involves running wiring, installing panels, and ensuring that all components meet safety standards.

• Bend and Install EMT and Rigid Conduit: You’ll use your skills with conduit benders to shape and install both EMT and rigid conduit, ensuring precise and secure connections throughout the site.

• Troubleshoot Electrical Circuits: Using multimeters and other diagnostic tools, you’ll troubleshoot electrical circuits to identify issues and implement solutions quickly and efficiently.

• Wire and Test Lighting Controls: You’ll wire various lighting control systems and conduct thorough testing to ensure everything operates seamlessly.

• Replace and Upgrade Switchgear: Part of your role will involve replacing outdated switchgear with modern systems and upgrading existing ones for improved performance.

• Install Transformers: You’ll be tasked with the installation of transformers, which are crucial for stepping down voltages to usable levels in our projects.

• Oversee Apprentices: As a seasoned electrician, you’ll guide and oversee apprentices, sharing your knowledge and ensuring that they follow best practices and safety protocols.

Additional daily activities include coordinating with other trades, conducting safety checks, and maintaining organized job sites to ensure efficiency and safety.

What You Need to Be an Electrician

To excel in this role, you must have:

• Proficiency with Conduit Benders and Power Tools: Your day-to-day tasks will require you to expertly handle these tools for precise installations.

• In-Depth Knowledge of NEC Codes: Understanding these codes is crucial for ensuring compliance and safety in all electrical installations.

• Ability to Work on Lifts and Scaffolding: You’ll often work at heights, so comfort and safety on lifts and scaffolding are essential.

• Strong Troubleshooting Skills: The ability to quickly diagnose and solve electrical issues is key to keeping our projects on track.

• Experience with Lighting Control Systems: Familiarity with these systems is important for ensuring efficient energy usage and functionality.

• Leadership Capabilities: You’ll need to mentor apprentices, providing guidance and support as they develop their skills.

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the field is required, along with excellent hands-on abilities and a commitment to quality work.

Compensation
