Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Journeyman Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in commercial settings. The candidate should be well-versed in industry standards, local electrical codes, and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems in commercial buildings while adhering to established codes.
2. Inspect and test components of electrical systems, including transformers, transfer switches, and switch gears.
3. Perform regular preventive maintenance on equipment and electrical systems.
4. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
5. Conduct thorough inspections of electrical systems to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
6. Ensure the continuity of wiring to ascertain compatibility and safety of the components.
7. Supervise electrician apprentices and provide them with guidance.
8. Respond promptly to emergencies or breakdowns to minimize downtime.
9. Keep records of all electrical inventories and place orders for spare parts and equipment as required.
10. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures in line with industry and company standards.

Qualifications and Requirements:

1. Valid California Journeyman Electrician license.
2. Proven experience as a Commercial Journeyman Electrician.
3. Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and all necessary equipment.
4. A working knowledge of electrical and building codes.
5. Ability to read and follow technical drawings and blueprints.
6. Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
7. Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools and electrical drawings and blueprints.
8. Thorough knowledge of safety procedures, legal regulations, and guidelines.
9. Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills.
10. Good physical condition and flexibility to work long shifts and overnight.
11. Diploma in relevant vocational training or successfully completed apprenticeship as an electrician.
12. Valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions:

The Commercial Journeyman Electrician may be required to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and be on their feet for many hours at a time. The role may also involve working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces. This role may occasionally require weekend and evening work.

The Commercial Journeyman Electrician will be required to practice safe working methods at all times and should be familiar with the use of personal protective equipment.
