Overview of Life Safety Fire Alarm Designer Role

The Life Safety Fire Alarm Designer at West Coast Fire plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and compliance of fire alarm systems. Based in Riverside, CA, the designer will be responsible for creating detailed and accurate fire alarm system designs that meet both client specifications and regulatory requirements. This position necessitates a deep understanding of fire alarm systems, design software, and relevant safety codes.

Essential Functions

• Develop detailed fire alarm design plans for various projects, including commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions.
• Collaborate with project managers and clients to ensure designs meet project specifications and regulatory standards.
• Utilize Fire Alarm Testing Equipment and Fire Alarm Software to perform system checks and ensure functionality.
• Stay current with industry standards and codes, particularly NFPA 1041 and NFPA 25, to ensure all designs comply with the latest safety regulations.
• Assist in the preparation of project documentation and submittals.
• Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning phases of projects.

Required Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in electrical work, with a focus on fire alarm systems.
• Valid electrical license for the state of California.
• Proficiency in using Fire Alarm Testing Equipment and Fire Alarm Software.
• Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting equipment and working on ladders.
• Strong knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in fire alarm system design and installation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Fire Alarm Design Software.
• Demonstrated experience in managing fire alarm projects from inception to completion.

• Primary location: Riverside, CA
• Neighboring cities: Corona, Moreno Valley, Fontana, San Bernardino, and Jurupa Valley.
• Schedule: Full-time position with standard working hours.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $40.04-$46.65 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
