What You’ll Do as a Security Technician

As a Security Technician at Vision Technologies in Athens, GA, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring the safety and security of our clients’ facilities. Your role is crucial in the installation and maintenance of advanced security systems. We’re currently working on several high-profile projects in the Athens area, providing comprehensive security solutions for commercial properties. Each day, you’ll tackle a variety of tasks that keep our projects on track and our clients secure.

Your Daily Tasks as a Security Technician

Your day-to-day activities will include installing and configuring IP cameras, access control systems, and motion sensors across various commercial job sites. You’ll be responsible for pulling and terminating low-voltage cables, ensuring they are properly labeled and routed through conduits and cable trays. Precision is key as you mount and align security cameras, making sure they have the correct field-of-view adjustments. You’ll also install and secure control panels, keypads, and card readers, integral components of our security systems.

On-site functional testing of systems will be part of your routine, including power and connectivity checks to ensure everything is operational. Collaboration is essential, as you’ll work closely with general contractors and other trades to meet site specifications. Keeping your tools and materials organized and maintaining a clean job site are also part of your responsibilities. Additionally, troubleshooting and resolving any issues that arise during installations will be a common part of your role, as well as providing technical support to clients and team members.

What You Need to Be a Security Technician

To excel in this role, experience is key. We expect you to have 1-3 years in the field as a Security Technician. You should be adept at installing security systems and familiar with cable termination tools. An understanding of basic networking protocols and proficiency with IP camera systems are also vital. Attention to detail is crucial, as is effective customer service skills, since you’ll be interacting with clients and ensuring their security needs are met. Hands-on abilities, such as problem-solving and technical troubleshooting, are must-haves for this position.
