Overview of Commercial Electrician Role
As a Commercial Electrician at Tri City Electric, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in commercial settings. Your expertise will ensure that all electrical work is performed to the highest standards, adhering to all relevant codes and regulations.
Essential Functions
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in commercial environments, focusing on safety and efficiency.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and code books to ensure accurate and compliant installations.
- Perform conduit bending and wiring installations, ensuring all work meets industry standards and client expectations.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other team members to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues, identifying and resolving problems quickly and effectively to minimize downtime.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including OSHA 30 and confined space regulations, to maintain a safe work environment.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical systems in commercial facilities.
- Document all work performed, maintaining accurate records for compliance and project management purposes.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of electrical experience, preferably in commercial settings.
- Valid electrical license for the state of Virginia.
- Proven experience with conduit bending and blueprint reading.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in confined spaces.
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with code books and the ability to apply them to commercial projects.
- Prior experience working on commercial projects, such as office buildings, retail centers, hospitals, or schools.

- Primary location: Richmond, VA
- Neighboring cities include Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, Glen Allen, and Midlothian, VA.
- Schedule: Full-time, with the potential for overtime depending on project needs and timelines.
