Rack Stack Installer at TR Group
The TR Group in Kansas City, MO is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Rack Stack Installer to join our rapidly growing team. This role is pivotal to our operations, focusing on the deployment and maintenance of data center rack infrastructure. As a Rack Stack Installer, you will be responsible for installing and configuring equipment racks, ensuring efficient power distribution, and managing complex cable systems. Our operations cover the Kansas City metro area, including neighboring cities such as Overland Park, KS, and Independence, MO. This role requires a deep understanding of data center environments and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure server rack infrastructure: Ensure that all server racks are installed and configured according to industry standards and specific client requirements.
- Perform structured cabling installations: Execute precise and efficient cabling installations to support network connectivity and scalability.
- Implement cable management systems: Develop and maintain organized cable management processes to optimize airflow and system performance.
- Mount network equipment: Securely mount routers, switches, and other network devices to support data center operations.
- Install power distribution units (PDUs): Implement power solutions that meet the data center’s demand and ensure reliability.
- Coordinate equipment deployments: Work with logistics teams to ensure timely receipt and installation of hardware.
- Maintain rack documentation: Keep detailed records of rack configurations, equipment changes, and maintenance activities.
- Perform hardware inventory management: Track and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages and overstocking.
- Execute rack and stack procedures: Follow established protocols for the physical installation of servers and related hardware.
- Implement labeling systems: Develop and maintain a comprehensive labeling system to streamline identification and troubleshooting.
- Maintain clean room protocols: Adhere to clean room standards to protect sensitive equipment from contamination.
- Coordinate with network teams: Collaborate with network engineers to ensure seamless integration of new installations.
- Participate in a large upcoming project: Engage in the “KC Data Hub Initiative,” a significant project aimed at expanding the region’s data center capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with regional requirements: Stay informed of Missouri’s regulations regarding electrical installations and data center operations.
- Enhance security measures: Implement security protocols specific to Kansas City data centers to protect sensitive data and infrastructure.
- Support off-hours maintenance windows: Be available for maintenance activities that must occur outside regular business hours to minimize disruption.
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience: Demonstrated experience with rack and stack procedures in a commercial data center setting.
- Proficiency in structured cabling: Proven ability to design and install structured cabling systems.
- Expertise with mounting systems: Familiarity with various mounting systems and their installation requirements.
- Knowledge of power distribution: Understanding of power distribution concepts and equipment used in data centers.
- Experience with inventory systems: Ability to utilize inventory management software to track equipment and supplies.
- Understanding of network hardware: Competence in identifying and working with various types of network hardware.
- Proven attention to detail: Ability to follow detailed procedures and documentation accurately.
- Ability to read technical documentation: Proficiency in interpreting and applying technical manuals and schematics.
- Location-specific qualifications: Familiarity with Kansas City’s infrastructure and regional data center projects. Experience with Midwest climate challenges in data center environments.
- Strong communication skills: Ability to work effectively with local teams and external vendors in the Kansas City area.
