Fiber Optic Splicing Technician

Staley Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Fiber Optic Splicing Technician to join our team in Kansas City, MO. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our edge data centers supporting telecom providers, content delivery networks, and IoT services. As a leader for a team of 4-6 technicians, you will bring your expertise to the forefront while working a first shift from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, covering a travel radius of up to 50 miles.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of fiber optic technicians in splicing and testing fiber optic cables.
• Perform installations, terminations, and testing of optical fiber utilizing OTDR, fusion splicers, power meters, and visual fault locators.
• Ensure high standards of work quality and safety in edge data centers.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to deliver seamless service to clients.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues to ensure minimal downtime.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and reports.

Required Qualifications

• 4-7 years of experience in fiber optic splicing and installation.
• FOA CFOT and BICSI Technician certifications.
• Proficiency with OTDR, fusion splicers, power meters, and visual fault locators.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in a technical team environment.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced training or specialized certifications in fiber optics technology.
• Prior experience working in edge data centers or similar environments.
• Familiarity with regional telecom infrastructures and local telecommunications regulations.
