Key Responsibilities
- Install Fire Alarm Control Panels and Devices: Accurately install and connect fire alarm control panels, making sure all initiating devices and notification appliances are properly configured for optimal performance.
- Pull and Terminate Fire Alarm Cable: Skillfully manage the installation of fire alarm cabling, ensuring precise termination and secure connections across systems.
- Mount Notification Appliances and Initiation Devices: Ensure all devices are installed in compliance with design specifications and regulatory standards.
- Assist with System Programming and Testing: Collaborate with senior technicians to execute system programming and conduct comprehensive testing to verify system functionality and compliance.
- Maintain Detailed Point-to-Point Wiring Documentation: Diligently document wiring paths and configurations to ensure accuracy and ease of maintenance.
- Coordinate with Other Trades for Device Placement: Work closely with other construction trades to ensure seamless integration and optimal placement of fire alarm devices.
- Perform Pre-Wire and Trim-Out Phases: Manage all phases of fire alarm installation, from pre-wiring to the final trim-out, ensuring all components are correctly installed and operational.
- Install Conduit and Cable Pathways: Design and install efficient conduit and cable pathways to support system integrity and ease of access.
- Troubleshoot System Wiring Issues: Identify and resolve wiring issues promptly to maintain system reliability and performance.
- Maintain Proper Color Coding and Labeling: Ensure all cables and devices are correctly color-coded and labeled for efficient maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Assist with Final Testing and Inspections: Participate in final system testing and inspections, ensuring all installations meet regulatory and client expectations.
- Comply with Texas State Requirements for Fire Alarm Installations: Adhere to all regional standards and building codes specific to Texas for fire alarm installations.
- Engage in the Upcoming Alamo Towers Project: Play a key role in the installation of fire alarm systems for the high-profile Alamo Towers project in San Antonio, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with Commercial Fire Alarm Systems: Demonstrated proficiency in the installation and maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems.
- Proficiency in Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret and execute complex blueprints and technical diagrams accurately.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72 Requirements: Comprehensive understanding of NFPA 72 standards and their application to fire alarm systems.
- Understanding of Fire Alarm Circuit Types: Familiarity with different circuit types and their specific installation techniques.
- Experience with Basic Programming: Basic skills in programming fire alarm systems to ensure proper operation.
- Ability to Use Multimeter and Testing Equipment: Proficient in using diagnostic tools to test and verify system integrity.
- Attention to Detail for Documentation: Strong focus on maintaining accurate and detailed installation records.
- Understanding of Voltage Drop Calculations: Knowledge of calculating voltage drops to ensure system efficiency and safety.
- Good Communication Skills for Coordination: Ability to communicate effectively with team members and other trades to ensure seamless project execution.
- 1-3 Years of Experience Required for Fire Alarm Work in Commercial Setting: Proven track record of working on commercial fire alarm installations.
- Familiarity with San Antonio’s Building Codes: Understanding of local building codes and regulations specific to San Antonio, TX.
- Experience Working in Hot and Humid Conditions: Ability to work efficiently in the challenging climate typical of San Antonio.
