Fiber Optic Splicing Technician at Staley Technologies
Position Overview
Staley Technologies is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Splicing Technician to join our team in Houston, TX. This role is integral in delivering reliable fiber optic solutions within enterprise data centers, servicing industries such as cloud providers, financial institutions, and technology companies. As part of a specialized 3-5 person team, the technician will perform precision splicing tasks, ensuring optimal performance and connectivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fiber optic splicing and testing using OTDR, power meters, and fusion splicers.
- Collaborate with team members to successfully complete projects within enterprise data centers.
- Adhere to industry standards and safety protocols during all splicing procedures.
- Conduct troubleshooting and maintenance to minimize downtime for clients.
- Maintain accurate documentation of splicing activities and results.
- Travel within a 50-mile radius to various client locations as required.
Required Qualifications
- 4-7 years of experience in fiber optic splicing and installation.
- ETA Fiber Optics Certification and BICSI Technician Certification.
- Proficiency with tools such as OTDR, power meters, visual fault locators, and fusion splicers.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
- Availability for first shift work, from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Preferred Qualifications
- OFC Specialist Certification.
- Additional ETA Fiber Optics Certifications.
- Previous experience working within enterprise data centers.
