Job Overview

As a Security Technician at Encore Electric, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining security systems in commercial environments. Your work will include access control systems, surveillance systems (CCTV), intrusion detection, and other networked security solutions. You’ll collaborate with project teams, clients, and engineers to ensure successful implementation and compliance with local codes and standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and program security systems, including:
  • Access control systems (keycard readers, biometric systems, and intercoms).
  • Surveillance systems (IP and analog cameras, NVR/DVR setups).
  • Intrusion detection systems and alarm panels.
  • Networked and cloud-based security systems.
• Perform structured cabling, including running wires and installing conduits for low-voltage systems.
• Conduct site surveys to assess system requirements and ensure proper installation planning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with installed systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Coordinate with other trades and project managers to meet deadlines and deliver quality installations.
• Train clients on the operation of their security systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, manufacturer guidelines, and local building codes.
• Maintain accurate documentation of installation and service activities.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in security system installation and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of low-voltage systems and electrical wiring principles.
• Experience with major security brands (e.g., Honeywell, Axis, Lenel, Genetec, or Avigilon).
• Familiarity with IP-based systems and basic networking principles (IP addressing, port forwarding).
• Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Excellent problem-solving and time management skills.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license and clean driving record.

Nice to Have:

• Certification in security systems (e.g., Lenel, Genetec, or NICET).
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Tools & Equipment Expertise

• Low-voltage wiring tools (e.g., wire strippers, crimpers, and testers).
• Power tools (e.g., drills, saws, and impact drivers).
• Multimeters and cable testers.
• Conduit bending tools and fish tapes.
• Laptop or tablet for system programming and diagnostics.
• Thermal imaging cameras and other diagnostic equipment for advanced troubleshooting.

• Experience with commercial projects such as healthcare facilities, corporate offices, or education institutions.
• Knowledge of cloud-based security platforms and mobile access control systems.
• Project management experience for overseeing complex installations.
• Ability to train and mentor apprentices or junior technicians.
