What You’ll Do as a Security Technician
As a Security Technician with Reliable Electric, you’ll be at the heart of our operations in Virginia Beach, VA, working on a significant multi-year project and additional assignments in nearby cities like Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Portsmouth. Your role is crucial in ensuring the security systems we install are reliable, efficient, and up to the highest standards. Your Daily Tasks as a Security Technician
System Installation and Configuration
Your day starts with installing and configuring state-of-the-art security systems. This includes setting up IP cameras, access control systems, motion detectors, and alarm systems at various commercial sites. You’ll be pulling, terminating, and labeling low-voltage cables, ensuring that every cable follows the correct route and complies with site specifications.
On-Site Testing and Troubleshooting
Perform comprehensive on-site testing to verify system functionality, connectivity, and power reliability. You’ll troubleshoot to resolve any issues, ensuring that each system operates flawlessly. This involves using diagnostic tools and software to analyze and fix any potential problems quickly.
Collaboration and Documentation
Work closely with project managers and general contractors to ensure installations align with project timelines. Maintain accurate installation records and documentation, guaranteeing all systems meet customer and industry standards. You’ll also provide training to clients, showing them how to operate and troubleshoot their new systems effectively.
Additional Daily Activities
- Conduct routine system inspections and maintenance to preemptively identify potential issues.

What You Need to Be a Security Technician
