Job Description:

Prime Partners is currently seeking an experienced Voice & Data Technician for our Sunnyvale, CA location, including surrounding cities like Mountain View, Cupertino, Los Altos, and Santa Clara. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the commercial electrical industry, with a focus on new construction and big box retail.

Responsibilities:

1. Installation, testing, and troubleshooting of voice and data systems including MDF and IDF, horizontal cabling, backbone cabling, cross and interconnections, telecommunications grounding and bonding.
2. Perform installations of cable pathway systems.
3. Establish voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables.
4. Install telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays, and alarm and fire-suppression systems.
5. Verify service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
6. Document network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
7. Maintain safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.
8. Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
9. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications.
10. Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Voice & Data Technician.
2. Proven experience with both voice and data systems in commercial settings.
3. Deep understanding of electrical systems in new construction and big box retail.
4. Thorough knowledge of industry standards, codes, and safety practices.
5. Proficient with hand and power tools.
6. Ability to troubleshoot and rectify issues.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
8. High school diploma or equivalent required.
9. Vocational training or an Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
10. Valid California driver’s license and reliable transportation.
11. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in diverse environments, both indoor and outdoor.
