Prime Partners is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Voice & Data Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the electrical industry specifics, focusing on commercial work primarily in new construction and big box retail. This position will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability and efficiency of our company’s voice, data, video, and wireless network services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation, maintenance, and repair of voice and data equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs.
2. Testing of cables and optical fiber, use of testing tools like network analyzers and/or spectrum analyzers.
3. Implementation of voice and data network systems by managing and troubleshooting LAN/WAN, and other network-related problems.
4. Reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written instructions to assemble equipment and solve complex problems.
5. Collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
6. Securing network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access.
7. Reporting network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information.
8. Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, etc.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree in telecommunications, computer science, or related field is preferred.
2. Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Voice & Data Technician or related role.
3. Experience in commercial work, particularly new construction and big box retail, is a must.
4. Extensive knowledge of voice and data systems, network interfaces, and computer system configurations.
5. Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
6. Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including WAPs, firewalls, routers, switches, and controllers.
7. Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
8. Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
9. Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.
10. A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
11. Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
12. Dependable and flexible when necessary.
13. Network security experience.
14. LAN and WAN experience.

Requirements:

1. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
2. Must be willing to work in various weather conditions and on construction sites.
3. Must be willing to travel to surrounding cities within the Los Angeles area.
4. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
5. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and on-call rotation.
