What You’ll Do as a Cable Technician
As a Cable Technician at Prime Partners, you’ll be integral to our ongoing and upcoming projects across Los Angeles and its surrounding areas, including Burbank, Pasadena, Santa Monica, and Long Beach. Your expertise will help ensure that our structured cabling systems are installed and maintained to the highest standards. Day-to-day, you will be at the forefront of our operations, ensuring seamless connectivity and efficient communication infrastructures.
Your Daily Tasks as a Cable Technician
Install and Maintain Structured Cabling Systems
Your primary responsibility will be installing, testing, and troubleshooting structured cabling systems. This includes CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optic cables in various commercial environments. You’ll perform cable terminations on patch panels, jacks, and network devices, ensuring that each connection is secure and reliable.
Conduct Thorough Cable Testing and Certification
Using industry-standard tools, you’ll conduct rigorous cable testing and certification to ensure all systems perform optimally and comply with industry regulations. Your keen eye for detail will ensure that every installation meets the required standards.
Construct Cable Pathways
You’ll also be responsible for constructing and maintaining cable pathways. This includes installing conduits, raceways, and J-hooks while adhering to safety codes and blueprints. Your ability to interpret and implement these plans will be crucial to maintaining the integrity of our projects.
Collaborate with Project Teams
Working closely with project managers and clients, you’ll help meet project deadlines and maintain quality standards. Your communication skills will be vital in translating technical requirements into actionable plans, ensuring projects run smoothly.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform regular system audits to identify and resolve potential issues
- Assist in the setup and maintenance of network rooms
- Document all installations and repairs for future reference and quality assurance
What You Need to Be a Cable Technician
Hands-On Experience and Skills
To be successful in this role, you need at least 2+ years of experience in the field as a Cable Technician. Proficiency in structured cabling installation and troubleshooting is essential. You must be adept at cable testing, termination, and certification procedures, with the ability to interpret blueprints and work effectively in active commercial construction sites.

Compensation
