Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Technician for our company in Oakland, CA. The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties related to the installation, maintenance, repair, testing, and inspection of fire alarm systems. This position requires extensive knowledge of electrical systems, attention to detail, and the ability to adhere to all safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Install, inspect, repair, and maintain various types of fire alarm systems, including smoke detectors, pull stations, horns, strobes, annunciators, and control panels.
2. Perform system troubleshooting to identify and resolve problems effectively.
3. Conduct regular testing of fire alarm systems to ensure they are functioning correctly.
4. Comply with all National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes, state and local building codes, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.
5. Prepare detailed service reports, documenting all tests, inspections, and repair work.
6. Provide exceptional customer service, responding to inquiries, explaining technical information, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
7. Participate in on-call rotation for emergency service calls.
8. Stay current with the latest fire alarm technology and industry trends.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent is required. A degree in a related field such as electronics or electrical engineering is preferred.
2. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Fire Alarm Technician or in a related role.
3. Valid California State Fire/Life Safety Technician Certification or NICET II Fire Alarm Certification.
4. Proficient knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.
5. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
6. Strong understanding of electrical circuits and wiring.
7. Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and technical diagrams.
8. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
9. Ability to work independently and in a team.
10. Possession of a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

The job may require lifting heavy equipment, working at heights, and working in confined spaces. Technicians may also need to work in various weather conditions.
