The Journeyman Electrician Position

Being a Journeyman Electrician with MMR Group involves a dynamic and challenging role where each day presents new opportunities and learning experiences. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex electrical systems, with a strong emphasis on renewable energy projects. Core Journeyman Electrician Responsibilities

As a Journeyman Electrician, you will:

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot renewable energy systems for commercial properties, including solar panels, energy storage systems, and inverters.
• Route and install conduit (EMT, rigid) and wiring for high-voltage DC and AC systems.
• Perform system testing and commissioning for solar arrays, ensuring optimal energy output and compliance with local regulations.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to design and implement energy-efficient electrical solutions.
• Install and maintain battery energy storage systems (BESS) and integrate them with building power systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on renewable energy equipment, including replacing faulty components and ensuring proper grounding.
• Supervise apprentices, ensuring adherence to safety standards and proper installation techniques.
• Prepare detailed reports on system performance and maintenance activities.
• Execute advanced technical duties such as configuring and programming energy management systems and performing detailed fault analysis on complex electrical systems.
• Manage regional projects, focusing on the unique challenges presented by the local climate and infrastructure, such as seismic considerations in the Torrance area.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with OSHA regulations to maintain a safe working environment.

Required Experience & Skills

To excel in this role, you must have:

• A valid California Journeyman Certification from the Department of Industrial Relations.
• Extensive knowledge of NEC and renewable energy codes, including solar and battery storage regulations.
• Experience with solar panel installations, inverters, and high-voltage DC systems.
• Proficiency with multimeters, megohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools.
• The ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and energy system diagrams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail for troubleshooting and system optimization.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician.
• Essential certifications such as OSHA 30, CPR/First Aid, and specialized training in renewable energy systems.
• A comprehensive understanding of technical concepts specific to renewable energy and commercial electrical systems.

Tools & Equipment

• Personal tools: Insulated screwdrivers, pliers, and wire strippers.
• Company-provided equipment: Power drills, multimeters, megohmmeters, and specialized diagnostic tools for renewable energy systems.

Physical Requirements

The role of a Journeyman Electrician is physically demanding and involves:

• Lifting and carrying equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Working in various conditions including outdoor environments, confined spaces, and at heights.
• Wearing safety gear such as hard hats, gloves, and harnesses to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Compensation Package
