The Alarm Installer Position

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As an Alarm Installer with Kirby Electric, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that ensure the smooth installation and operation of alarm systems. Your day-to-day duties will include pulling and terminating low-voltage wiring, mounting devices such as smoke detectors and pull stations, and performing system labeling and basic testing. You will work closely with a team of installers and technicians, receiving guidance and supervision from senior team members as needed. Your role will be crucial in maintaining our project schedules and ensuring compliance with fire safety codes.

Core Alarm Installer Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation of fire alarm systems, ensuring all components are installed according to detailed layout plans.
• Perform advanced technical duties such as configuring control panels, integrating systems with existing security measures, and troubleshooting complex issues.
• Manage regional projects, coordinating with teams in neighboring cities like Avondale and Sun City to ensure timely completion.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment and compliance with OSHA standards.

Required Experience & Skills

• A minimum of 0-2 years experience as an Alarm Installer, with a strong foundation in low-voltage wiring and installation techniques.
• Essential certifications such as NICET Level I or II in Fire Alarm Systems, or equivalent state certifications.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical diagrams and blueprints.

Tools & Equipment

• Daily use of tools such as wire strippers, multimeters, and fish tapes.
• Personal tools like screwdrivers, pliers, and a cordless drill are required.
• Kirby Electric provides specialized equipment, including lift platforms and safety harnesses.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and work comfortably on ladders or scaffolding.
• Work environments may include confined spaces, outdoor sites, and construction zones.
• Safety gear, including hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves, is mandatory.
