Controls Engineer at IES Electric

IES Electric is seeking a seasoned Safety Controls Engineer to join our dynamic team in Atlanta, GA. The ideal candidate will be an expert in machine safety systems and safety PLCs, and will have a rich background in risk assessment. This role is pivotal in ensuring the optimal operation of our safety systems while adhering to the highest standards of safety and compliance. The position requires extensive travel for safety system validation and compliance assessments.

This position is based in Atlanta, GA, with proximity to neighboring cities including Sandy Springs, Marietta, and Decatur.

Required Experience

• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Controls Engineer
• TÜV Functional Safety Engineer certification
• OSHA-30 certification
• Certified Machinery Safety Expert (CMSE) credentials
• Proficient in Sistema calculations, safety circuit design, and robot safety systems
• Expertise in safety network protocols (CIP Safety, PROFIsafe)
• In-depth knowledge of ISO 13849/IEC 62061 standards and safety system design
• Extensive experience with safety PLCs (Allen-Bradley GuardLogix, Siemens F-CPU)
• Must be willing to travel 40-70% for safety system validation and compliance assessments.

• Proven experience in the implementation and management of safety policies and procedures
• Familiarity with various safety codes and regulations
• Experience with safety training and audits

Salary and Benefits

• Salary range: $60.59-$71.18 per hour
