What You’ll Do as a Cable Installer

As a Cable Installer at JP Electric, you’ll be an essential part of our team working on various projects in Atlanta, GA, and surrounding areas such as Marietta, Decatur, and Roswell. Your role is critical in ensuring that our structured cabling systems are installed efficiently and effectively. Day-to-day, you’ll be hands-on with high-quality installations, ensuring connectivity for commercial and industrial environments. This is a multi-year project with opportunities to work on additional projects in nearby cities, offering stability and growth in your career.

Your Daily Tasks as a Cable Installer

Your day as a Cable Installer will be filled with practical tasks that are crucial to the success of our projects:

• Install Structured Cabling Systems: You’ll work with Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optics, ensuring they are installed to meet industry standards in various environments.
• Terminate and Test Cables: Using precision tools and advanced testers, you’ll terminate and test copper and fiber optic cables, ensuring they’re functioning correctly.
• Mount and Organize Equipment: You’ll be responsible for mounting, securing, and organizing network racks, patch panels, and cable trays, ensuring they are neatly dressed and bundled.
• Troubleshoot Connectivity Issues: During and after installations, you’ll troubleshoot and resolve any connectivity issues that arise, ensuring smooth operations.
• Read and Interpret Blueprints: You’ll read and interpret blueprints and construction diagrams to ensure accurate installations and integration with larger infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate with Project Teams: You’ll work closely with project teams to seamlessly integrate cabling systems.
• Maintain Records and Protocols: Keeping detailed installation records and adhering to quality and safety protocols will be part of your routine.
• Conduct Site Surveys: Regular site surveys will be part of your job to assess and plan installations effectively.
• Communicate with Clients: You’ll often communicate with clients to understand their needs and ensure satisfaction with the installed systems.

What You Need to Be a Cable Installer

• 3-5 Years of Experience: Prior experience in the field is essential.
• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in structured cabling, fiber optic termination, and testing.
• Knowledge of Standards: Familiarity with TIA/EIA cabling standards.
