Key Responsibilities

• Design and install structured cabling systems for data centers and enterprise networks.
• Perform high-density fiber optic cable installations in accordance with TIA-942 standards.
• Certify cabling systems using advanced test equipment such as Fluke DSX CableAnalyzer.
• Implement proper cable management in network rooms, ensuring clean and organized installations.
• Terminate and test high-speed copper and fiber connections to meet performance specifications.
• Maintain detailed testing documentation and warranties, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date.
• Coordinate pathway installation with other trades, ensuring seamless integration within the facility.
• Perform data center hot aisle/cold aisle separation to optimize cooling efficiency.
• Install overhead cable tray and ladder rack systems, adhering to safety and design standards.
• Maintain clean room protocols for sensitive environments, minimizing contamination risk.
• Develop and execute cabling projects in accordance with regional requirements for Virginia, ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations.
• Liaise with local utility companies in Richmond to ensure uninterrupted service during installations.
• Provide on-call support for emergency repairs and installations in the Richmond area.

Required Qualifications

• BICSI Installer 1 certification required, with Installer 2 preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with fiber optic installation and testing.
• Proficiency with multiple certification testers, such as OTDR and VFL.
• Understanding of data center design principles, including redundancy and scalability.
• Experience with cable management systems and pathways, including J-hook and Velcro solutions.
• Knowledge of clean room procedures and best practices.
• Ability to read and create cable installation drawings using CAD software.
• Understanding of network hardware requirements and configurations.
• 1-5 years of experience required for Voice Data work in a commercial setting.
• Familiarity with Richmond’s local building codes and regulations for data center installations.
• Ability to navigate the Richmond metro area for efficient project management.
