Position Overview at Convergint

The Security Technician position at Convergint focuses on providing high-quality security solutions for educational institutions in Palm Springs, CA, and the surrounding areas. The role involves installing, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and related customer training on assigned security projects. The technician will be expected to collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure the successful implementation and maintenance of security systems.

Requirements for Security Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Install and service electronic security systems, including access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance systems.
• Perform system programming and commissioning.
• Coordinate with project managers to ensure timely project completion.
• Provide technical support and training to customers.

Daily Tasks

• Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine security needs.
• Troubleshoot and repair security system malfunctions.
• Maintain accurate documentation of installations and service work.

Project Involvement

• Collaborate on large-scale security projects for educational institutions.
• Work closely with other technicians and subcontractors to meet project deadlines.
• Participate in project meetings and provide input on system designs.

Qualifications for Security Technician at Convergint

• 2-4 years of experience in security systems installation and maintenance.
• Required certification: Security+ Certification.
• Experience with network security tools and security management software.
• Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders and in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional certification: ASIS PSP Certification.
• Experience with video surveillance equipment.
• Specialized experience in educational institution security projects.
• Proficiency with specific tools such as multimeters and cable testers.

Location & Schedule

• Primary location: Palm Springs, CA.
• Additional locations: Indio, Cathedral City, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Desert Hot Springs.
• Schedule: Full-time, with occasional overtime as required.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $30.25-$38.19 per hour.
