Cable Technician at Encore Electric

Encore Electric is seeking experienced and skilled Cable Technicians to perform commercial cable installation and maintenance services across the greater Denver metropolitan region. This role requires technical expertise, physical stamina, and a commitment to high-quality communication infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct professional commercial cable installation for business networks and communication systems
• Install, terminate, and test fiber optic and copper cable infrastructure
• Perform detailed site surveys and pre-installation assessments
• Read and interpret complex technical blueprints and network design schematics
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal telecommunications regulations
• Maintain accurate installation and service records
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network connectivity issues
• Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams
• Perform aerial and underground cable installations
• Complete installations with minimal disruption to client business operations

Required Technical Skills

• Advanced understanding of:
  • Fiber optic cable installation techniques
  • Coaxial and copper cable termination
  • Network infrastructure design
  • CATV and data communication systems
• Proficiency in cable splicing for both fiber and copper mediums
• Experienced with various cable management systems

Specialized Cable Installation Tools

• Fiber optic cleaver
• Optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR)
• Fusion splicer
• Cable tension meter
• Fiber optic power meter
• Tone and probe sets
• Cable strippers and cutters
• Crimping tools
• Digital multimeter
• Ladder and safety harness
• Bucket truck operation certification

Technical Diagnostic Equipment

• Network cable testers
• Signal level meters
• Spectrum analyzers
• Laptop with network diagnostic software
• Tablet for digital work orders and documentation

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable working at heights (aerial installations)
• Capable of climbing ladders and working in confined spaces
• Standing, walking, and physical labor for entire shift
• Capable of working in various weather conditions

Technical Certifications

• BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)
• Fiber optic certification
• Commercial electrical low-voltage license
• Valid commercial driver’s license preferred

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years commercial cable installation experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Professional appearance and customer service orientation
• Clean driving record
• Drug test and background check required

Work Environment

• 40-50 hours per week
• Some overtime and weekend work may be required
• Travel within Denver metro area
• Indoor and outdoor work settings
• Commercial and industrial installation sites
