Cable Installer at Tech Electronics

Tech Electronics, a leader in the technology infrastructure industry, is seeking a skilled Cable Installer to join our team in Worcester, MA. Situated in the heart of Central Massachusetts, Worcester is in proximity to several key cities, including Shrewsbury, Auburn, and Millbury, offering a vibrant work environment. The Data Center Cable Installation Technician role is essential in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of mission-critical facilities. This position requires expertise in structured cabling, fiber optics, and cooling separation, with a focus on high-performance cabling systems in critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and install structured cabling systems for data centers and enterprise networks.
• Perform high-density fiber optic cable installations.
• Certify cabling systems using advanced test equipment.
• Implement proper cable management in network rooms.
• Terminate and test high-speed copper and fiber connections.
• Maintain detailed testing documentation and warranties.
• Coordinate pathway installation with other trades.
• Perform data center hot aisle/cold aisle separation.
• Install overhead cable tray and ladder rack systems.
• Maintain clean room protocols for sensitive environments.
• Collaborate with local Worcester utilities for compliance with regional installation standards.
• Ensure adherence to Massachusetts-specific electrical and safety regulations.
• Provide technical support for regional data center expansions.

Required Qualifications

• BICSI Installer 1 certification required; Installer 2 preferred.
• Demonstrated experience with fiber optic installation and testing.
• Proficiency with multiple certification testers.
• Understanding of data center design principles.
• Experience with cable management systems and pathways.
• Knowledge of clean room procedures.
• Ability to read and create cable installation drawings.
• Understanding of network hardware requirements.
• 1-5 years of experience required for voice data work in a commercial setting.
• Familiarity with Worcester’s local building codes and regulations.
• Residency within commuting distance to Worcester is preferred.
