The Alarm Installer Position

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As an Alarm Installer at Tech Electronics, your day-to-day responsibilities will involve working on a variety of projects, ensuring the seamless installation of advanced fire alarm systems. You’ll be tasked with pulling and terminating low-voltage wiring, mounting devices like smoke detectors and pull stations, and performing system labeling and basic testing. Each day presents the opportunity to work in different environments, from high-rise buildings in bustling downtown Tampa to suburban developments in Brandon and Clearwater.

Core Alarm Installer Responsibilities

  • Installation and Setup: Assist in the installation of fire alarm systems by pulling and terminating low-voltage wiring. Mount devices such as smoke detectors, pull stations, and notification appliances according to detailed layout plans.
  • Advanced Technical Duties: Conduct advanced system diagnostics, program and configure alarm panels, and integrate systems with building management software. Perform in-depth testing and troubleshooting to ensure system reliability.
  • Regional Project Specifics: Engage in projects across Tampa and neighboring cities, adapting to different regulatory standards and building codes to ensure compliance.
  • Safety Protocols: Adhere to stringent safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear, following OSHA guidelines, and conducting regular safety checks to prevent accidents.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Experience: 0-2 years minimum experience as an Alarm Installer.
  • Certifications: NICET Level I certification in Fire Alarm Systems is preferred. Completion of relevant safety training courses is required.
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic knowledge of low-voltage wiring, tools, and equipment. Ability to read and interpret installation instructions and blueprints. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Tools & Equipment

  • Daily Tools: Wire strippers, multimeters, drills, and screwdrivers are essential for daily tasks.
  • Personal Tools: Installers are expected to have a personal toolkit with basic hand tools.
  • Company-Provided Equipment: Tech Electronics provides specialized equipment, including ladders, safety harnesses, and testing devices.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Working Conditions: Must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Safety Gear: Installers are required to wear hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots on job sites.

Compensation Package

  • Salary Range: Competitive hourly wage ranging from $26.21 to $33.28, depending on experience and certifications.
