Overview of the Data Center Technician Role

As a Data Center Technician in our Commercial division at Expert Wire, you will play a critical role in the installation, maintenance, and optimization of data centers for various commercial projects. You will have the opportunity to work on high-impact projects, ensuring the smooth operation of data systems essential for the functionality of office buildings, retail centers, hospitals, and schools. Your expertise will contribute to the efficiency and reliability of our clients’ data infrastructures.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and configure data center equipment for commercial projects, including servers, cabling, and network devices.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of data center systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to ensure timely completion of data center projects.
• Implement cable management systems and ensure proper labeling and documentation of network components.
• Conduct network testing and diagnostics using specialized equipment to identify and resolve issues.
• Ensure all work complies with industry standards and safety regulations.

Required Certifications:

• CompTIA Server+
• OSHA 30

Experience and Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of electrical experience in a commercial setting.
• Valid electrical license for the state of Florida.
• Experience with BICSI DC Certification and Cable Management Systems.
• Familiarity with network testing equipment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and tools.
• Capable of standing, bending, and working in confined spaces for extended periods.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with network testing equipment is highly desirable.
• Previous experience working on commercial projects, particularly in office buildings, retail centers, hospitals, or schools, is a plus.

Location & Schedule

• Primary Location: Tampa, FL
• Neighboring cities include St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Brandon, and Palm Harbor.
• Schedule: Full-time position with potential for overtime based on project demands.
