This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of our critical facility management systems, and the successful candidate will play an integral part in maintaining our data center infrastructure. Reno, known for its proximity to Lake Tahoe, is a growing tech hub with neighboring cities such as Sparks and Carson City, where work may also be performed. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain critical data center infrastructure with a keen eye on system reliability and performance.
- Perform server installations and decommissions, ensuring compliance with company standards and protocols.
- Manage and update cable plant documentation to support efficient facility operations.
- Implement and oversee hot/cold aisle containment strategies to optimize cooling efficiency and reduce energy costs.
- Coordinate maintenance windows, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to operations.
- Execute power circuit installations, adhering to safety standards and regulations.
- Maintain battery backup systems to ensure uninterrupted power supply during outages.
- Monitor environmental controls, adjusting as necessary to maintain optimal operating conditions.
- Execute change management procedures, maintaining a detailed log of changes for audit purposes.
- Manage equipment lifecycle from procurement to decommission, ensuring cost-effective asset management.
- Perform network hardware installations, ensuring secure and efficient network connectivity.
- Maintain strict security protocols to protect sensitive data and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with local utility providers for efficient energy management in the Reno-Sparks metropolitan area.
- Prepare for the upcoming “Reno Tech Expansion Project,” which will significantly increase our data center capacity.
- Ensure compliance with Nevada’s regional standards for environmental impact and sustainable energy use.
- Provide on-site support for emergency situations in neighboring cities such as Carson City and Truckee.
Required Qualifications
- BICSI Data Center Technician certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a commercial data center environment.
- Proven experience in critical infrastructure management, with a focus on power and cooling systems.
- Proficient in dressing and terminating cables, ensuring neat and efficient cable management.
- Demonstrated ability with DCIM systems for effective infrastructure management.
- Strong documentation skills to maintain accurate records and procedural documentation.
- Experience with change management procedures to minimize risk and ensure compliance.
- Must pass a clean background check as part of the security clearance process.
- Familiarity with Nevada state regulations regarding data center operations.
- Knowledge of local Reno tech landscape and regional infrastructure challenges.
