Staley Technologies is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Center Cable Technician to join our team in Boise, ID. This key role focuses on the installation and maintenance of structured cabling systems in enterprise data center environments. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic setting that offers exposure to cutting-edge technology and significant room for career advancement. Our service area extends beyond Boise to include nearby cities such as Meridian, Nampa, and Caldwell, where you may also be required to perform work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and dress Category 6/6A cabling systems with precision and efficiency.
  • Terminate copper and fiber connections adhering to industry standards.
  • Maintain proper cable management in server racks, ensuring organized and efficient layouts.
  • Install and manage overhead cable trays and ladder racks.
  • Perform comprehensive cable testing and certification processes.
  • Document test results and warranties meticulously, maintaining accurate records.
  • Adhere to clean room protocols to ensure a controlled and safe work environment.
  • Organize patch panel layouts to optimize network performance and reliability.
  • Implement proper cable routing and separation techniques to meet industry standards.
  • Assist in the installation of fiber trunks, ensuring robust and reliable connectivity.
  • Maintain detailed labeling systems for easy identification and management of cables.
  • Coordinate with regional teams to meet Idaho-specific installation standards.
  • Contribute to the successful execution of the upcoming “Boise Metro Data Expansion” project, a landmark initiative set to transform the data infrastructure of the area.

Required Qualifications

  • BICSI Installer 1 certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrated experience with structured cabling systems, emphasizing quality and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in cable termination techniques, ensuring reliable network connections.
  • Knowledge of cable testing procedures and the ability to interpret results.
  • Strong understanding of cable management best practices to optimize system performance.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex network drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining labeling systems for efficient cable management.
  • Attention to detail, ensuring precision in all aspects of the role.
  • A basic understanding of network hardware and its integration within data center environments.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in voice data work within a commercial context.
  • Familiarity with Boise’s unique geographic and infrastructural considerations.
  • Capability to adapt to Idaho’s regulatory requirements for data center installations.
