Key Responsibilities

Design and install structured cabling systems for data centers and enterprise networks, perform high-density fiber optic cable installations, certify cabling systems using advanced test equipment, implement proper cable management in network rooms, terminate and test high-speed copper and fiber connections, maintain detailed testing documentation and warranties, coordinate pathway installation with other trades, perform data center hot aisle/cold aisle separation, install overhead cable tray and ladder rack systems, maintain clean room protocols for sensitive environments.

• Collaborate with local contractors to meet Des Moines-specific building codes
• Conduct safety audits per Iowa regulations
• Provide technical support during major events at the Iowa Events Center

Required Qualifications

BICSI Installer 1 certification required, Installer 2 preferred, demonstrated experience with fiber optic installation and testing, proficiency with multiple certification testers, understanding of data center design principles, experience with cable management systems and pathways, knowledge of clean room procedures, ability to read and create cable installation drawings, understanding of network hardware requirements.

• 1-5 years of experience required for Voice Data work in Commercial setting
• Familiarity with Midwestern climate considerations for data centers
• Must possess a valid Iowa electrician’s license or be willing to obtain one
