A Day in the Life of a Rex Moore Journeyman Electrician

As a Journeyman Electrician on our team, your day-to-day responsibilities will include installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting advanced electrical systems. You will work in various environments, from bustling commercial sites to serene suburban projects. Core Journeyman Electrician Responsibilities

Advanced Technical Duties

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot renewable energy systems for commercial properties, including solar panels, energy storage systems, and inverters.
• Route and install conduit (EMT, rigid) and wiring for high-voltage DC and AC systems.
• Perform system testing and commissioning for solar arrays, ensuring optimal energy output and compliance with local regulations.
• Collaborate with engineers and project managers to design and implement energy-efficient electrical solutions.
• Install and maintain battery energy storage systems (BESS) and integrate them with building power systems.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on renewable energy equipment, including replacing faulty components and ensuring proper grounding.
• Supervise apprentices, ensuring adherence to safety standards and proper installation techniques.
• Prepare detailed reports on system performance and maintenance activities.

Regional Project Specifics and Safety Protocols

Our projects often involve large-scale installations in the Greater Sacramento Area, requiring adherence to specific local regulations and safety protocols. You’ll be expected to follow stringent safety measures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), regular safety drills, and compliance with OSHA standards to ensure the safety and well-being of all team members.

Required Experience & Skills

Essential Qualifications

• Must have a valid California Journeyman Certification from the Department of Industrial Relations.
• Extensive knowledge of NEC and renewable energy codes, including solar and battery storage regulations.
• Experience with solar panel installations, inverters, and high-voltage DC systems.
• Proficiency with multimeters, megohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and energy system diagrams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail for troubleshooting and system optimization.

Experience and Certifications

• 4+ years minimum experience as a Journeyman Electrician.
• Essential certifications include CPR and First Aid, OSHA 30, and any additional renewable energy certifications.
