Voice and Data Installer Position Overview

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Voice and Data Installer on our team, you’ll be responsible for the installation and termination of low-voltage cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optics. You will mount and configure network hardware like patch panels, switches, and wireless access points. Additionally, you’ll perform cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting to ensure that each system operates at peak performance.

Core Voice and Data Installer Responsibilities

• Install and terminate low-voltage cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optics.
• Mount and configure network hardware, such as patch panels, switches, and wireless access points.
• Perform cable testing, certification, and troubleshooting for optimal performance.
• Create cable pathways using raceways, conduits, and trays, adhering to building and safety codes.
• Collaborate with project teams to meet installation deadlines and client expectations.
• Design and implement advanced cable management solutions for complex installations.
• Conduct site surveys to assess project requirements and create detailed installation plans.
• Provide technical training and guidance to junior installers to maintain high installation standards.
• Adhere to all OSHA and Prime Partners safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

You’ll engage in major projects throughout Atlanta and surrounding cities, including Marietta’s growing commercial district and Sandy Springs’ expanding healthcare facilities.

Qualifications

• Proven experience with low-voltage systems, including structured cabling and network hardware.
• Strong knowledge of cable testing tools and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to work in active construction environments and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Voice and Data Installer.
• Essential certifications: BICSI Installer 1 or 2, OSHA 10 or 30, and Fiber Optic Technician certification.
• Required technical knowledge in network design, cable management, and advanced troubleshooting techniques.

Tools & Equipment

• Daily tools include cable testers, crimping tools, punch-down tools, and fish tapes.
• Installers must provide their own hand tools, such as screwdrivers, pliers, and utility knives.
• Company-provided equipment includes power drills, label makers, and network analyzers.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Work in various conditions, including confined spaces, heights, and outdoor environments.
