Your Daily Tasks as a Fire Sprinkler Designer

Design and Develop Fire Sprinkler Systems

Your main task will be to develop detailed fire sprinkler system designs for commercial new construction projects. You will ensure these designs comply with local, state, and national fire safety codes. This means creating comprehensive system layouts, performing hydraulic calculations, and compiling material lists using industry-standard design software like AutoCAD and HydraCAD.

Coordinate and Collaborate

You’ll review architectural and engineering plans to ensure that our fire sprinkler systems integrate smoothly with other building systems. This involves preparing submittals, including drawings and technical specifications, for client and authority approvals. Expect to collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and field teams to troubleshoot design challenges and ensure the seamless installation of systems.

Site Visits and Verification

Conducting site visits will be part of your routine. These visits help verify the feasibility and accuracy of your designs in real-world conditions. You’ll ensure that all installations align with your plans, making adjustments as necessary.

Documentation and Record Keeping

What You Need to Be a Fire Sprinkler Designer

Experience and Expertise

To excel in this role, you should have at least 3+ years of experience designing fire sprinkler systems for commercial buildings. You’ll need to be proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and HydraCAD.
