Estimator Position Overview

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As an Estimator at Prime Partners, your daily responsibilities will include conducting detailed plan take-offs, gathering vendor quotes, and calculating quantities to ensure all projects remain on budget and schedule. You will interpret product specifications and pricing for large-scale construction projects.

Types of Projects and Environments

You will work on a diverse range of projects, including commercial site developments, earthworks, and civil infrastructure. These projects will take you across various environments, from bustling city centers to expansive rural landscapes.

You will be part of a dynamic team, collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors. Under the mentorship of senior Estimators, you will refine your skills and contribute to innovative solutions.

Core Estimator Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed plan take-offs and gather vendor quotes for competitive pricing.
  • Calculate quantities and interpret product specifications for large-scale projects.
  • Collaborate with team members to create and manage RFIs and offer value engineering recommendations.
  • Prepare comprehensive bid proposals and cost estimates by analyzing site/civil drawings.
  • Maintain clear communication with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure accurate and competitive bids while upholding safety and regulatory compliance.

Advanced Technical Duties

  • Utilize advanced estimating software to enhance precision in cost projections.
  • Conduct risk assessment analyses to foresee potential project challenges.
  • Implement cost control measures during the pre-construction phase.

Regional Project Specifics

  • Familiarity with local construction regulations and environmental considerations in Yuma and surrounding areas.
  • Expertise in earthwork estimating tailored to the Yuma terrain.

Safety Protocols

  • Adherence to OSHA standards and company safety procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure all team members comply with safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • 3-10 years minimum experience as an Estimator in a construction setting.
  • Intermediate knowledge and hands-on experience in commercial site development and earthworks.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook and the full MS Office suite.
  • Familiarity with AGTEK or similar dirt take-off software.
  • Essential certifications: Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
