What You’ll Do as a Commercial Electrician
As a Commercial Electrician at Prime Partners, your role will be pivotal in our ongoing and future projects centered in Alpharetta, GA, with additional projects in neighboring cities such as Roswell, Milton, and Johns Creek. Our focus is on creating sustainable energy solutions through commercial-scale solar installations. You’ll be at the forefront of this initiative, bringing your expertise and hands-on skills to ensure that our renewable energy projects are executed seamlessly and efficiently.
Your Daily Tasks as a Commercial Electrician
Installation and Wiring of Solar Systems
Your primary responsibility will be to install, wire, and maintain commercial-scale solar panel systems, including inverters and battery storage units. This involves working on both rooftop and ground-mounted solar arrays, ensuring that all DC wiring is effectively connected to the AC infrastructure.
Troubleshooting and Repair
Daily, you’ll troubleshoot and repair photovoltaic (PV) systems, microinverters, and energy management systems. This requires a keen eye for detail and an ability to diagnose and resolve issues quickly to minimize downtime.
System Optimization and Testing
You’ll configure electrical components to optimize system efficiency and facilitate smooth grid integration. Conducting insulation resistance testing, voltage measurements, and system performance diagnostics are part of your routine to ensure all installations meet National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and interconnection requirements with utility providers.
Additional Daily Activities
Besides the core tasks, you will also:
- Conduct routine maintenance checks and updates on electrical panels and switchgear.
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure project timelines are met.
- Document work progress and report any potential issues to the foreman for swift resolution.
What You Need to Be a Commercial Electrician
Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be a Journeyman Electrician with at least 3+ years of experience in solar PV and energy storage systems. A strong understanding of electrical code compliance for renewable energy projects is crucial.
Skills and Certifications
- Proficiency in inverter troubleshooting and familiarity with energy monitoring platforms.
- Comfort with working at heights and in various outdoor environments.
- Possession of an OSHA 30 certification and NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification is preferred.
Hands-On Abilities
Your role demands practical, hands-on abilities, such as:
- Precision in electrical installations and wiring.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints.
- Strong problem-solving skills in real-time work scenarios.
