Key Responsibilities

Design and install structured cabling systems for data centers and enterprise networks, ensuring robustness and reliability. Perform high-density fiber optic cable installations with meticulous attention to detail. Certify cabling systems using advanced test equipment to guarantee optimal performance. Implement proper cable management in network rooms to ensure operational efficiency and safety. Terminate and test high-speed copper and fiber connections, maintaining the highest standards of excellence. Maintain detailed testing documentation and warranties to support ongoing operations and future upgrades. Coordinate pathway installation with other trades to ensure seamless integration and functionality. Perform data center hot aisle/cold aisle separation to enhance cooling efficiency and system reliability. Install overhead cable tray and ladder rack systems to support structured cabling infrastructure. Maintain clean room protocols for sensitive environments, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

• Provide on-call support for emergency repairs in Norfolk and the surrounding areas.
• Collaborate with local utility companies for seamless service integration.
• Comply with Virginia-specific safety regulations and building codes.

Required Qualifications

BICSI Installer 1 certification required, with Installer 2 preferred, demonstrating your commitment to industry standards and best practices. Possess demonstrated experience with fiber optic installation and testing, showcasing your technical prowess and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency with multiple certification testers to ensure versatile and accurate performance assessments. Understanding of data center design principles to contribute to high-quality infrastructure development. Experience with cable management systems and pathways to support organized and efficient installations. Knowledge of clean room procedures to maintain optimal environmental conditions for sensitive equipment. Ability to read and create cable installation drawings, facilitating clear communication and project planning.

• 1-5 years of experience required for Voice Data work in a commercial setting.
• Familiarity with the specific environmental challenges and opportunities unique to Norfolk.
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage with clients and stakeholders in the Norfolk area.
