Fiber Optic Technician at InScope

InScope is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Technician to join our team in Roswell, GA, and support our operations in the surrounding areas, including Alpharetta, Sandy Springs, and Marietta. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge fiber optic networks, focusing on enterprise fiber systems. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of fiber infrastructure, including single-mode, multi-mode, and DWDM systems, and will be adept at handling emergency restorations and detailed network documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement comprehensive fiber optic networks tailored to client needs.
• Perform fusion splicing operations with high precision and ensure optimal connectivity.
• Conduct OTDR testing to certify fiber installations and diagnose potential issues.
• Maintain comprehensive splice documentation and ensure accurate records are kept.
• Install and manage fiber distribution systems, ensuring robust and efficient networks.
• Configure and optimize DWDM systems for enhanced data transmission.
• Implement and maintain fiber management systems to ensure network reliability.
• Coordinate pathway installations and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment in all project areas.
• Respond to emergency restoration needs promptly to minimize network downtime.
• Train junior technicians, providing guidance and mentorship to foster skill development.
• Specific to Roswell, assist in the upcoming major fiber expansion project in the downtown area.
• Collaborate with local authorities to ensure all regional requirements and regulations for Georgia are met.

Required Qualifications

• FOA certification is mandatory.
• Extensive experience in fusion splicing and OTDR testing is required.
• Proven expertise in managing complex fiber management systems.
• Advanced knowledge of various fiber types and their applications.
• Certification in multiple splice platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve technical issues efficiently.
• 2-5 years of experience in fiber work within a commercial setting.
• Familiarity with the local network infrastructure in the Roswell area.
• Experience working with Georgia’s specific compliance and safety standards.
