The Journeyman Electrician Position
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
As a Journeyman Electrician with Howell Electric, you will engage in a variety of tasks that ensure the success of our multifaceted projects. Your daily responsibilities will include installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems with a focus on renewable energy solutions. Core Journeyman Electrician Responsibilities
Technical Duties
- Renewable Energy System Installation: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot renewable energy systems, including solar panels, energy storage systems, and inverters for commercial properties.
- High-Voltage System Work: Route and install conduit (EMT, rigid) and wiring for high-voltage DC and AC systems, ensuring compliance with local and national electrical codes.
- System Testing and Commissioning: Perform system testing and commissioning for solar arrays, ensuring optimal energy output and compliance with local regulations.
- Energy Storage Solutions: Install and maintain battery energy storage systems (BESS) and integrate them with building power systems.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct preventive maintenance on renewable energy equipment, replacing faulty components and ensuring proper grounding.
Advanced Technical Duties
- Advanced Diagnostic Testing: Utilize multimeters, megohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex electrical systems.

- Diagnostic Skills: Proficiency with multimeters, megohmmeters, and ability to troubleshoot high-voltage DC systems.

- Daily Tools: Journeyman Electricians should have a personal set of hand tools, including screwdrivers, pliers, wire cutters, and voltage testers.
