As a Journeyman Electrician, you will play an integral role in the construction and implementation of renewable energy systems on commercial properties. Your expertise will ensure that our projects meet high safety and quality standards while pushing the boundaries of energy efficiency and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities and Daily Tasks

Installation and Maintenance of Renewable Energy Systems

Your primary responsibility will be to install, maintain, and troubleshoot renewable energy systems, including solar panels, energy storage systems, and inverters. You will work with high-voltage DC and AC systems, ensuring that all installations comply with local regulations and standards.

Routing and Wiring

You’ll expertly route and install conduit (EMT, rigid) and wiring necessary for system integrations. This includes hands-on work with high-voltage systems, where precision and adherence to safety protocols are paramount.

System Testing and Commissioning

Performing system testing and commissioning for solar arrays is a critical part of your role. You’ll ensure optimal energy output and compliance with standards, collaborating closely with engineers and project managers to refine and implement energy-efficient solutions.

Supervision and Reporting

As a Journeyman Electrician, you’ll supervise apprentices, ensuring their work meets safety standards and follows proper installation techniques. Additionally, you’ll prepare detailed reports on system performance and maintenance activities, contributing to the project’s ongoing success.

Additional Daily Activities

• Perform preventive maintenance, replacing faulty components, and ensuring proper system grounding.
• Assist in the integration of battery energy storage systems (BESS) with building power systems.
• Engage in daily safety briefings and project updates to align with the team on goals and responsibilities.

Qualifications and Skills Required

Certification and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must hold a valid California Journeyman Certification from the Department of Industrial Relations. With at least 4 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician, your deep understanding of NEC and renewable energy codes is essential.

Skills and Tools

• Proficiency with multimeters, megohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail for troubleshooting and optimizing systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and energy system diagrams.
