What You’ll Do as a Journeyman Electrician

As a Journeyman Electrician at Granite State Electric, you’ll be at the forefront of our multi-year project in Durham, NC, with additional opportunities in nearby cities such as Chapel Hill, Cary, and Raleigh. Your role is essential in ensuring that our projects are completed with precision and safety. You’ll work on a variety of tasks each day, contributing to the successful implementation of electrical systems in commercial buildings. Your Daily Tasks as a Journeyman Electrician

Installation and Maintenance

You’ll install and maintain commercial electrical systems, which include switchgear, transformers, lighting fixtures, and power circuits. These tasks require a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of electrical components. Your ability to accurately measure, cut, and bend conduit, whether EMT or rigid, will be crucial for seamless system installations.

Troubleshooting and Problem Solving

Troubleshooting electrical issues will be a regular part of your day. You’ll use tools like multimeters to diagnose and resolve problems, ensuring all circuits meet NEC code requirements. Your problem-solving skills will be essential in identifying and correcting any issues efficiently to keep projects on track.

Collaboration and Supervision

Working collaboratively with other trades is vital to planning and executing electrical installations within construction schedules. You’ll supervise apprentices, providing guidance on proper techniques and safety practices. Additional Daily Activities

What You Need to Be a Journeyman Electrician

To join our team, you’ll need a valid journeyman electrician license and a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the field. A deep understanding of NEC codes and proficiency with conduit bending and electrical tools are essential. You’ll also need strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to manage apprentices and work collaboratively with teams.
