Commercial Electrician at Shelby Communications

Shelby Communications, located in Fort Wayne, IN, is seeking a qualified Commercial Security Systems Specialist to join our team. This role focuses on providing enterprise-level integrated security solutions to our clients across Fort Wayne and the neighboring areas, including New Haven, Auburn, and Huntington. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of complete security infrastructure, including surveillance systems, access control, and intrusion detection. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and practical experience to design and implement comprehensive security solutions effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and maintain commercial security systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Program access control and surveillance equipment, ensuring they meet client specifications.
• Configure IP camera networks and VLANs, optimizing for security and efficiency.
• Implement cybersecurity measures tailored to security networks, safeguarding sensitive data.
• Manage and maintain credential databases, ensuring accuracy and security.
• Coordinate with IT teams to ensure seamless network integration.
• Supervise the installation of biometric devices, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
• Perform regular system health monitoring and maintenance to ensure operational excellence.
• Document system configurations and maintain detailed testing records for all installations.
• Train end users on the effective use of security platforms and systems.
• Integrate security systems with building automation systems for enhanced functionality.
• Specific to the Fort Wayne area, oversee compliance with Indiana state regulations for security installations.
• Manage the security infrastructure for the upcoming major project at the Electric Works campus in Fort Wayne.
• Provide after-hours support and maintenance during scheduled maintenance windows.

Required Qualifications

• Security+ certification preferred.
• Extensive experience with VMS platforms and proven expertise in access control systems.
• Demonstrated ability with IP networking and advanced knowledge of cybersecurity protocols.
• Certification in security system programming and strong IT/database management skills.
• Experience with enterprise security architecture is essential.
• A clean background check is required.
• 3-5 years of experience in a Journeyman role within a commercial setting.
• Familiarity with local Fort Wayne regulations pertaining to security systems is advantageous.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage projects in the Fort Wayne region.
