What You’ll Do as a Data Center Tech
As a Data Center Tech at Reliable Electric in Pacifica, CA, you’ll be at the heart of our operations. Your role is crucial as you’ll ensure the smooth functioning of our data centers, which are vital to our clients’ businesses. We are currently expanding our facilities in Pacifica, and you’ll be part of a dynamic team working on cutting-edge projects. You’ll engage in hands-on tasks and tackle real-world challenges every day.
Your Daily Tasks as a Data Center Tech
Your day-to-day work will involve a variety of tasks that keep our data centers running efficiently and securely:
Install and Maintain Server Racks
You’ll be responsible for installing and maintaining server racks. This includes precisely aligning and securing racks to accommodate high-density server equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
Route and Secure High-Density Cabling
One of your primary tasks will be routing and securing high-density cabling. You’ll need to ensure cables are neatly organized and labeled, minimizing interference and maintaining a clean and efficient workspace.
Set Up Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
You’ll set up and configure PDUs to ensure reliable power distribution to the servers. This involves understanding power load management and balancing loads across multiple circuits.
Perform Cable Testing Using Fluke Tools
Regular testing of cables is crucial to maintaining network integrity. You’ll use Fluke tools to test and troubleshoot cabling, ensuring all connections are functioning correctly and efficiently.
Document Network Layouts and Connections
Accurate documentation is key. You will meticulously document network layouts and connections, ensuring detailed records are kept for future reference and troubleshooting.
Adhere to Strict Data Center Cleanliness Standards
Maintaining a clean and organized work environment is essential. You’ll follow strict cleanliness protocols to ensure the data center meets industry standards, reducing risks and enhancing efficiency.
Additional Daily Activities
- Monitor environmental controls to ensure optimal temperature and humidity levels.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Assist with server upgrades and hardware installations as needed.
What You Need to Be a Data Center Tech
