This entry-level position offers the opportunity to learn commercial electrical installation, including power distribution, lighting systems, and life safety measures. As part of our team, you will work closely with journeyman electricians to develop skills in blueprint reading, safety procedures, and proper installation techniques. This role requires enrollment in or eligibility for a state-approved apprenticeship program and involves physical tasks such as climbing ladders and moving heavy materials. Reliable Electric provides a dynamic environment with exposure to various commercial construction projects, such as office buildings, retail spaces, and industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with installation of commercial electrical systems including power distribution, lighting controls, and fire alarm systems, learn conduit bending and installation techniques for EMT and rigid conduit, help with wire pulling and termination in electrical rooms, support panel installation and circuit identification, assist with lighting fixture installation and controls programming, learn building automation system basics, help with emergency lighting installation and testing, maintain material inventory and job site organization, document daily work progress, operate aerial lifts and scaffolding under supervision, assist with blueprint reading and layout. Additional responsibilities specific to the Billings area include adapting to local building codes and regulations, supporting projects in diverse environments like industrial sites, and assisting with energy-efficient lighting retrofits common in the region. Familiarity with Montana’s climate considerations, such as weatherproofing installations, is also essential.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma/GED with strong math skills, enrolled in state-approved electrical apprenticeship program, basic understanding of electrical theory, ability to read basic blueprints and construction drawings, proficiency with hand tools and power tools, valid drivers license with clean record, ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly, good communication skills for job site coordination, basic computer skills for documentation, willingness to attend required training classes. 0-3 years of experience required for Apprentice work in Commercial setting. Location-specific qualifications for Billings include familiarity with regional safety standards, ability to work effectively in a varied climate, and understanding of local utility infrastructure.
